Katek given an award for its commitment to the environment

The Chiemgau-based electronics service provider Katek has been given the "Umweltpakt Bayern" (Environment Pact Bavaria) for environmentally-compatible economic growth by the Bavarian Ministry of the Environment. Landrat (District Head) Hermann Steinmaßl handed over the award with the words: "A big thank you for your commitment to our environment, our climate and our following generations."

In the environment pact the Bavarian government and the Bavarian business world agree on making a continuous improvement in protection of the environment. This primarily involves accepting responsibility and volunteering. Katek meets these requirements with a comprehensive environmental management system that goes far beyond than simply what is legally required. Each individual employee is brought into this and so makes an active contribution to preservation of the environment. Furthermore, Katek is certified to the internationally recognized environmental standard ISO 14001 and improves its own environmental management on this basis year by year: Thus, to take one example, the connection to a biomass heating plant has saved around 400 tons of CO2 per year since 2010. The next major step towards further developments comes at the end of 2011 with the introduction of an energy management system in compliance with DIN Standard 16001.
